7:11pm.  When I say the name of this flower I do it as if I were a Southern belle.  Just like our sweet, gentle South Carolina girl Gram might....  buh.Gohn.yeh.  Oh sweet stars above, I love these pretty ladies.  My bright orange buh.Gohn.yehs.

an aside

This post is my 103rd!  Somehow I managed to let the major milestone that is the 100th post pass without comment.... which is, in itself, a comment on my lifestyle.  Anyway, back to my point... because there was a point.... oh yes.

On this momentous 103rd post I have a word of advice:  Do not spill "Gelatin enriched. Acetone for natural nails. Strenthening Nail Polish Remover." on your eyeglasses.  Especially if those eyeglasses are in the least bit acrylic.  And especially if you would rather not wear eyeglasses whose frames look to have slightly melted and turned to smoke.

Just take my word for it.

June 7

10:47am- Foot paints on the lawn under a cloudy sky.

How I spent my summer 'cation, Part 1, Day 4

Sweating.
Reading.
Eating another glorious meal.
Laughing.
Sweating while wiping orange "push-up" ice cream off sticky little fingers and faces.
Reading some more.
Hugging my husband.
Falling asleep in my own bed, happy to be home and so grateful for a wonderful week.

How I spent my summer 'cation- Part 1, Day 3

Building towers and bridges and houses.
Listening to pieces of family history.  Wishing I had a recorder.
Giggling about bright blue ice cream.
Resting.
Throwing things into the River.
Falling asleep, knowing my boys are blessed with an extended family who loves them to bits

ps. Last photo taken with my Blackberry because my camera battery passed away.

How I spent my summer 'cation- Part 1, Day 2

Walking.  In a clown parade.
Scouting for Library books.  Reading those we found.
Another picnic.
Homeade banana ice cream at snack time.  Strawberry shortcake for dessert after dinner.
Falling asleep with new pink toesies, happy.

How I spent my summer 'cation- Part 1, Day 1.

Making "King of the Forest" crowns from lilac branches at the farm.
Blowing bubbles.
Picnics.
Falling asleep with dusty toes, more freckles and a smattering of bug bites on my knees after sharing two (or was it three?) glasses of wine with my mama.

May 28

3:17pm- Tomatoes planted.  Only the ones with cute names, though.

May 27

9:32am- Riding the grassy waves on our blanket boat.  Armed only with a few books each, a National Geographic magazine and a kids paraphenelia catalog.  I had my coffee; they had their trusty truck water bottle.  It was positively delightful until we could no longer chase the shade.  We traded in our books for some PB&J's.  A bazillion "next times" promised.

a simple verse

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.
When eaten... makes you sigh.
When consumed... makes you swoon.
Oh how I adore thee, strawberry rhubarb pie.

May 26

11:12am- Oh my fine princes, how sorely I have wronged you......*sniff, sob*   What is that?  Do my ears decieve me?
Ah, how blessed am I, you have granted me your pardon....

wishes

Dear Sister, I can't believe we are really this old.  (Or why it took your birthday to make me consider this fact.) When I see you next, "Let's pretend we are college roommates."  Happy Birthday, dearest.
